How to find cheap weekend flights from Budapest

Prague's old town, a typical weekend city break destination

Be flexible about your departure day

Flight prices depend heavily on demand: Friday evening and Sunday afternoon flights are typically the most sought-after, so they're often pricier than midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday) departures. If you can, try leaving on a Thursday or even a Wednesday and flying home on a Monday or Tuesday — in many cases that alone brings the price down.

That's exactly why fridayjet's flexible date search shows you a full month of prices for a given destination at once, in a calendar view, so you can see which days are cheapest without having to check each date one by one.

Track price changes in the calendar

Airline pricing changes constantly based on demand, how full a flight is, and competitors' prices. On every destination page you can check the calendar and price-trend view, which shows how the price on that route has moved over recent weeks — making it easy to tell whether today's price is actually good, or whether it's worth waiting a few days.

Look at the total cost, not just the flight

A cheap flight alone doesn't solve everything: if accommodation prices happen to be high that particular weekend, the trip overall can end up more expensive than travelling on a different date with a somewhat pricier ticket. Quick rule of thumb: before you jump on a great flight price, take a couple of clicks to check accommodation prices for the same two days too.
