Wizz Air vs Ryanair cabin bags: the differences that actually matter

By Turi Zoltán · 08/30/2026

Boarding a low-cost flight where cabin-bag rules matter

Cabin-bag sizes and what the basic fare includes

Both basic fares include one small under-seat bag. A second, larger cabin bag requires an additional allowance. This comparison was checked against the official policies on 8 October 2026.

Packing for a short weekend

Pack a trial bag for two nights and measure it when full. Wizz excludes handles and wheels from the stated dimensions, but wheels may add no more than 5 cm. Ryanair requires the bag to fit its baggage sizer. An overfilled soft backpack can exceed the allowance.

Priority and checked bags are different products

Priority permits a second cabin bag. A 10 kg checked bag must be handed over before security and goes in the hold. Check the product name rather than assuming every 10 kg option can be carried onboard.

Compare the complete trip cost

Baggage charges depend on the route, dates and purchase method. Add the bag charges for both directions and every traveller to the return fare, then include optional seats and airport transfers. A fridayjet flight price does not imply that a larger cabin bag is included.

Read each flight's baggage allowance on the booking confirmation before leaving. If Ryanair Priority has sold out, a 10 kg checked bag may be available instead; allow time to drop it at the airport.
